It’s been another exciting week in the world of SportFi, where big wins are often reflected by sharp Fan Token price movements on the markets. With just a few games to go until the New Year, every win is crucial as clubs look to enter 2026 in a rich vein of form.
Perhaps the week’s biggest SportFi story happened off the pitch, though, after Tether submitted a takeover bid for Italian giant Juventus, whose Fan Token $JUV pumped by 46% after the news broke – before sliding 13% when the proposal was rejected. The story reiterates just how intrinsically linked Fan Tokens are to the real-world happenings at major sports organizations.
But what happened in the stadiums this week? Here’s a roundup of key games and trading data for some of the most liquid Fan Tokens on MEXC.
Paris Saint-Germain: Metz Win Delivers 7% Gains for $PSG
Champions League winners survive bruising Metz battle to pile pressure on Lens, as $PSG Fan Token responds. Trade $PSG on MEXC now.
After 16 league games Paris Saint-Germain find themselves in an unfamiliar position, sitting second in Ligue 1 to in-form Lens. However, they continued to heap pressure on the table-toppers on Saturday (Dec. 13), overcoming Metz 3-2 despite missing key players like Ousmane Dembélé (recently named men’s player of the year by FIFA) and captain Marquinhos.
Saturday’s win saw PSG briefly reclaim top spot in the league, before Lens saw off Nice on Sunday to return to the summit. With just a point separating the pair, and league action set to resume in January, Lens will end 2025 as frontrunners.
The Fan Token market nevertheless reacted to the Metz victory, with the value of $PSG rising from $0.85 on Dec. 12 to $0.91 on Dec. 13, a bounce of 7%. Trade volumes also rose from $1.54m to a high of $9m on the day of the game.
Next up for the French treble winners is the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo in Doha tonight (Dec. 17). With PSG having lost the FIFA Club World Cup final to Chelsea in July, they will be looking to make amends and add another prestigious trophy to the cabinet.
Barcelona: Fifth Straight Win Sees $BAR Pocket 5.1%
Business as usual for Barça as they cruise to 2-0 win over Osasuna to stay top of La Liga. Trade $BAR on MEXC now.
A brace from Brazilian star Raphinha saw Barcelona defeat Osasuna 2-0 at the Camp Nou on Saturday, a victory that marked their fifth straight win and seventh in the Spanish top flight. Indeed, the club hasn’t lost a La Liga game since the 2-1 El Clásico defeat back in October.
While a win over 16th-placed Osasuna shocked no-one, and the Barcelona Fan Token ($BAR) failed to moon in the aftermath, it did hit a value of $0.61 after the final whistle which marked a 5.1% increase over the preceding 72hrs. Barcelona are next in action this Sunday, when they face a daunting trip to third-placed Villarreal, who haven’t lost a domestic encounter since Oct. 4.
Manchester City: Back to Their Best in Palace Win
Manchester City lay down a marker with a thumping away win, as they continue to chase Arsenal. Trade $CITY on MEXC now.
Despite losing 25% of their Premier League matches so far this season, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are just two points behind Arsenal after 16 games. On Sunday, they made it four league wins on the spin by dispatching Crystal Palace 3-0 at Selhurst Park – no mean feat given the latter’s impressive form this season (the FA Cup winners sit fifth).
The goals came from in-form pair Erling Haaland and Phil Foden, and City are now the division’s top scorers having hit the net 37 times. On the Fan Token front, the best $CITY managed off the back of the Palace win was a 4.8% intraday bounce, and it has mostly tracked sideways in recent days.
Interestingly, the club just released its 2024-25 annual report confirming last season delivered the third highest revenues (£694.1m) in its history. Might this news, coupled with an EFL Cup quarterfinal win over Brentford tonight, translate into Fan Token sentiment in the coming days?
Arsenal: Late Winner Seals Wolves Win as $AFC Toils
Currently top of the Premier League and Champions League, Arsenal look to end the year on a high. Trade $AFC on MEXC now.
Arsenal have been the Premier League’s form team this season, but they came perilously close to dropping points against Wolves on Saturday. A dramatic finish saw Tolu Arokodare head in a Wolves equalizer on 90 minutes, before an own goal minutes later handed Arsenal the 2-1 victory as bedlam broke out at the Emirates Stadium.
Despite not having won a major trophy since the FA Cup in 2020, Arsenal are currently top of both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Perhaps owing to Wolves’ terrible form (they are bottom of the league), a Gunners win was already priced in, as the Arsenal Fan Token ($AFC) held in the $0.38 range on matchday. However, amid reports of an unfolding injury crisis, the token’s value dropped 11.5% between Dec. 14 and 15. Arsenal are next in action this Saturday (Dec. 20) away to 9th-placed Everton.
Juventus: Trade Volumes Explode Past $100m Amid Tether Bid
Juventus secure big domestic and European wins, as Tether talk inspires trading frenzy. Trade $JUV on MEXC now.
A 2-0 win over Pafos in the Champions League last Wednesday (Dec. 10) was followed by a vital 1-0 away victory over Bologna on Sunday (Dec. 14), but it’s fair to say most of the Juventus chatter has centered on the aforementioned Tether takeover bid.
While Juventus Fan Token ($JUV) trade volumes moved between $1m and $3m on Dec. 12, exploded in the wake of the Tether news, exceeding $102m a day later. $JUV also hit a price of $0.90 on Dec. 14, up 47.5% from two days prior. Majority owner Exor’s rejection of Tether’s all-cash bid has seen the price fall to $0.68 in recent days, although traders will be wondering whether Tether is readying an increased bid.
This Saturday night, Juventus are at home to Roma, who sit one place and four points above them in Serie A.
Inter Milan: Fan Token Jumps 12.1% After Genoa Win
Inter Milan reclaimed pole position in Serie A after defeating Genoa 2-1, with $INTER rocketing in the aftermath. Trade $INTER on MEXC now.
First-half goals from Yann Bisseck and Lautaro Martínez were enough to see off Genoa despite the latter’s late fightback, and the win meant the Nerazzurri returned to the summit of Serie A, leapfrogging rivals AC Milan and Napoli.
Priced at $0.33 the day before the game, the Inter Milan Fan Token ($INTER) rose to $0.37 after the win, a steep increase of 12.1%. It then climbed to $0.38 the following day as trade volume crossed 8.4 million. The value of $INTER has since dropped to $0.35, although it’s still up 3.8% over the last seven days.
Next up for Inter: a Super Cup semifinal against Bologna this Friday.
Napoli: A Shock Loss, But Still in Serie A Title Battle
Napoli’s unexpected 1-0 defeat to mid-table Udinese sees them drop to third in Serie A, as $NAP feels the pain. Trade $NAP on MEXC now.
Reigning Serie A champions Napoli suffered their fourth loss of the season away to Udinese on Sunday, a result that saw them slip from joint-top of the table to third. It was the Neapolitan club’s second defeat in four days, after going down 2-0 to Benfica in the Champions League.
Naturally, these back-to-back defeats have manifested in the market, with the price of the Napoli Fan Token ($NAP) down 7.9% in the last seven days. Intriguingly, though, it’s up 1.4% in the last 24hrs ahead of tomorrow’s Super Cup semifinal against AC Milan (Dec. 18).
AC Milan: Knocked Off Serie A Summit as $ACM Struggles
The Rossoneri drop points after a 2-2 draw with Sassuolo, while rivals Inter Milan take full advantage. Trade $ACM on MEXC now.
Sunday’s stalemate against mid-table Sassuolo meant that AC Milan dropped into second place, after nemesis Internazionale’s win at Genoa. After falling behind early, a double from full-back Davide Bartesaghi saw AC Milan take the lead, only for a late Sassuolo equalizer to ruin the party.
The top of the table remains extremely congested of course, with just a point separating the top two teams. AC also have a one-point lead over third-placed Napoli, who are themselves a point ahead of Roma. In short, there’s everything to play for.
Over the course of last weekend the value of the AC Milan Fan Token ($ACM) increased by 2%, but it’s since lost 8.5%. Could a win over Napoli in tomorrow’s Super Cup semifinal reverse the trend?
